Tropico 6 is a construction and management simulation game. It’s the latest title in the Tropico series with a strong emphasis on the political aspects of being the world’s greatest dictator. It’s a satirical city builder where you’re tasked with leading your island’s nation to glory.
However, your success solely depends on your people’s needs rather than your ambitions. Citizens are a part of factions that represent the different interests of your people. Ignoring their demands for too long equals the risk of a rebellion.
Of course, it’s impossible to make everyone happy, as every request you fill for one group will cost you standing with another. You have to balance everything out, and that’s the last thing you would expect from a dictator!
Tropico 6 doesn’t have any story campaign but instead has a series of missions to complete. They are not related to each other, but they cover a different aspect of the game to teach you its main features. Completing a given mission will grant you access to others. Those missions vary in difficulty, rules to follow, and tasks to complete.
Thanks to the revised research system focusing on political decisions, you can choose a path of a threatening dictator or a peace-loving statesman on the island state of Tropico. Create the history of your nation!
Tropico 6 is an evolution of the previous games, so veterans of the series will quickly recognize its core mechanics. Newcomers are not forgotten either, as the game has tutorial missions to get you introduced to the series. As El Presidente, you will rule over the whole archipelago, consisting of several islands. You will craft your history through four distinctive eras, each with its own challenges.
It’s a full-fledged city builder, where you’ll be building all manner of weird and wonderful structures. It’s basically Cities: Skylines with palm trees! The infrastructure possibilities presented in the game are very similar to the aforementioned game. You’ll be building houses, skyscrapers, monuments, and so on.
Don’t forget about transport so your citizens can travel between islands. Construct tunnels, build bridges and support your infrastructure with taxis, buses, and aerial cable cars. Good development means a higher standard of living for your people.
You can also send your international agents to foreign lands to steal the projects of the most famous buildings in the world, including the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Triumphal Arch, and so on. All of these can be a part of your banana republic! It’s not as easy as it sounds, however.
You’ll often struggle to develop your cities and adapt to various new challenges. You need to sign trade deals for bananas and rum to make money. You have to build a distillery that won’t work without a sugar plantation nearby to make rum. Also, you must build houses for workers, so they don't have to live in shacks.
What’s more, nobody wants to spend their days fermenting and bottling rum without sampling it, so you’ll have to build taverns. As you can see, everything works in harmony here, and multitasking is required to succeed. And that’s only one example!
Sometimes, you have to come out to your people and show how much you care about them. Feel like a real-life politician making election speeches from your balcony, making promises you’ll never keep. This feature alone shows that Tropico 6 is one of the most compelling economic simulators ever.
Game developers provided Tropico 6 with online multiplayer and co-op mode. They are both available as soon as you launch the game. You can choose to collaborate or compete against other players.
When creating your own session, you can set up the starting era, the amount of money each player possesses, the likelihood of disasters, and victory conditions. You can also join other players’ games and follow their rules.
Multiplayer maps support either 2 or 4 players. You’re all spread across the large map and fight for the ultimate domination. Unless you want to cooperate to meet the winning condition terms.
All in all, multiplayer and co-op mode alone will give you countless hours of gameplay. The outcomes of different scenarios are usually unpredictable and offer a fresh experience every time. Especially if you’re playing with your real-life friends!

works!
All good with the key
Truly amazing game in Tropico family. I am always very worried about the new one as it always can lead to some ****** ideas being represented but in this case - it was all unwarranted. Tropico 6 is an awesome game for everyone to enjoy and as before - it’s just hilarious. I had some hours in the game already and can safely say - it’s the best up to date. Really. I was a big fan of the second installment and this one took it all to the next level. The site is also good, they sent me a key right away so don’t waste any more minute! Get Tropical!
It’s probably the best city building game there is. Like, really, it doesn’t have any downsides, has a lot of humor, has a lot of heart and is just such a solid game, really. For me - it’s a 10/10 easily. I didn’t play a lot citybuilders in my past, only some SimCity action back in the day, but I’ve never got so deep with any of them in a way that this one just got me. I liked it a lot. It was one of the best games I’ve played not only in a citybuilder or strategy category, but in any really. I had lots of fun playing this game and can recommend it to anyone who is interested in something unique, something out of the ordinary and just a great gameplay. I mean, really, this has gags, this has something complicated, even something military if you wish. It’s not total war, honestly, but you can have some fun in it, don’t worry. For me - one of the best strategies in a while. I really enjoyed it and give it thumbs up!
Let’s get back to the island. The most popular, most fun, most funNY and everything, real-time city builder strategy game! You know what you get - stuff! How much? More of it! When - whenever you like, however you like, whatever you like! Does it solve all the problems of the previous games - no! But do we care - somewhat! Will we play it again? - of course! I don’t know why we’re shouting. Anyways, it’s a game that just keeps on giving my friends. El Presidente needs our help to get back on, well, whoever is currently on our bad side. It’s a really fun gaming experience. The game has a lot of humor in it, but also - very many interesting mechanics, you can build your own tropical island with military and everything. Is it possible to conquer the world? Well, it might be. The world is yours as they say! What I enjoyed about this edition of the game is that they didn’t really want to reinvent the wheel but decided to do a solid game instead. Which is probably for the best in the end. Some companies are overdoing these sequels and forgetting why this was so popular in the first place. For me - this is sequeling done right! I give it a solid 8/10 and hope that the next one will be as popular or even better than this one.
