Chris Redfield, you may know him from the original Resident Evil, who opposed the plague all around the globe, is now a member of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance - BSAA. He went to Africa with local BSAA agent Sheva Alomar to investigate the strange anomalies.
But if you are a fan of, well, games, in total, you must have heard about Resident Evil Series. It’s one of the most interesting and most extended series in gaming history. The concept was simple - create some narrow corridors to kill as many zombies as you can. Thanks to the producing geniuses, it became something else. It became a story to tell for generations to come.
So, what is the truth about Resident Evil 5?
Resident Evil games are known for having a great story and even greater setup. It would be boring just to point and kill. Soon, it would be just as mechanical as eating or doing dishes.
Fortunately, Resident Evil 5 has what it takes. The action takes place five years after the events of Resident Evil 4. It’s 2009, Chris Redfield is chilling in his Japanese mansion (events may be colorized). Suddenly, he gets a call, and everything changes.
Resident Evil 5 creators partnered Chris with Sheva Alomar. They tasked them with the apprehension of Ricardo Irving before he would be able to sell bio-organic weapons (BOW) on the black market.
Unfortunately, when they arrive at the scene, the weapon is already out! BSAA Alpha Team is dead! Chris and Sheva managed to survive thanks to Delta Team with Captain Josh Stone as a leader. It turns out that in Stone’s data, there is a photo of Jill Valentine, Chris’s old partner, who, until now, was thought to be dead.
Chris is now determined to find out what happened to his old partner. He teams up with Sheva to solve the mystery and kill this virus once and for all.
As in most Resident Evil games, the fifth edition allows following your character from the third-person perspective. It makes the game more interesting and dynamic, allowing you to hide and strike when the time is right!
During the game, you are assisted by Sheve - one of the greatest friends a protagonist could imagine. She helps you in fighting, covers you when necessary, and I’ve heard that if you’re nice enough, she would even make you some tea. So - keep that in mind!
They didn’t build a Rome in one day, and sure as hell, they wouldn’t invite those not-so-nice Zombie Persons that are roaming the streets (see what I did there?). Choose from many pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, and more to eliminate the Zombies. Zoombieees.
Well, not literally. Fight the hordes of zombies, but also - think a little. You don’t always have to use the force of your muscles, especially your index finger. There are many puzzles to choose from, and certainly - those are not paper. Use logic and your intuition to go through the many mazes and win the ultimate prize - being able to destroy some more zombies.
The whole game can be played in co-op mode. So call your friends, family, or whoever you choose and dive deep into this zombies extravaganza!
Resident Evil 5 is considered one of the best games in the genre and the whole series. Fast-paced action, great visuals for the time, and incredible story are just some of the compliments received by the game.
Many critics praised the game's replay value, stating that you can play it repeatedly and it doesn’t lose and playability.
Critics have also praised the game on mechanics. It was one of the first survival horror games that have departured from the standard - here are some zombies, kill them. Some critics said that Resident Evil 5 could be considered a blockbuster more than a game. Others believed that combining the adventure elements with survival was a jackpot!
That’s why the game received 86 total ranking on Metacritic and is still cherished to this day, even though the release date was in 2009. It’s a sign of quality!
