This is an Xbox One version of the game.
Welcome to the unknown and known frontier of space exploration, with no limitations to what you want to discover. Each planet and their biomes are yours to research. It’s a game where you can enter your ship and just explore the infinite, procedurally generated universe.
Some of you might be wondering… No Man’s Sky? Isn’t that one game with tons of promises and upheld none of them?
And yes, the title made by Hello Games developer had as rough start as its ambitions. I am here to tell you that things have changed. Promises were kept, updates were introduced, and you can finally enjoy exploring deep space.
Basically everything. No Man’s Sky presents itself now as a great game, fully realized with all bells and whistles you could expect from a classic science fiction space explorer. Constant danger? It’s here. Travelling to a distant sun? You could always do it, but now you can settle colonies there, go on missions, or research fauna and flora, or… well, there are many things you can do now!
Many issues have been fixed, like infinite loading screens. It would always take a minute to load your save, but now you don’t have to wait all day. You get more cargo space, and there’s better optimization, Atlas Rises update brought changes to the storyline, so you can really craft your destiny.
Most of the promises were made into reality. There are the few that still wait for their turn, like cloaking devices for ships, scheduled for the upcoming patch. And there’s a LOT of brand-new content added in the newest updates.
Don’t worry. We will point everything out.

It’s a game set in a possibly infinite universe, where everything is procedurally generated. Because of that, no matter how many times you’ll play this title, there’ll always be something new for you to discover.
Whether it will be unique planets filled with rich resources, or perhaps an explorer, or two stranded on forgotten worlds, you will not find the same galaxy across different saves.
At least that’s what this game was promised to be at the beginning. Now? Now you have a lot more possible things to do. There’s base building, searching in submarines for sunken wrecks among underwater biomes. You can farm, ride animals, drive vehicles, combat mechs, and there’s even VR support for bonus amazing-game points.
While there is a story, it is something to play at your leisure. All I can say without spoilers is that there’s an irresistible pulse in the center of each galaxy that draws explorers, most often to their doom…
Before you, a galaxy lies. Full of hostile creatures, fierce pirates, toxic environments, and… new planets. It’s a chance for epic voyage, trade convoys, or just landing on planetary surfaces and… discovering places. Nobody will tell you how to enjoy your game.
And I do mean explore. Everything is procedurally generated – every system, planet, landscape, animal, plant, alien, settlement, missions, building. There are also different archetypes of biomes and planets. You can find anything from arid deserts to water worlds and continents covered in magma and ash.
While the game focuses on exploring your universe, you don’t have to do it alone. There can be up to ten of you in a single instance to build, survey, fight, or just vibe in your lovely colony. You can invite friends or other players, and wander the great unknown together!
There’s quite a roster of available craft for you to name, fly around and have fun. From those that look like X-Wing to harder to get Living Ship. There’s a breadth of choice. Still no customization, sadly, but considering all the content we got? It’s coming, sooner or later.
You can explore and discover places all right, but you can also be a pirate, hunting for roaming freighters. Or you might be a trader, looking for new lanes, trying to find rich resources and occasions. Some of those are easier than others, but I’ll leave that for you to discover yourself. Bottom line is: you choose your own destiny.
Those serve as trading and mission hubs, from which you can launch your expeditions into the unknown and reap huge rewards! They are in every charted solar system, with abandoned versions in lost and forgotten sectors. Besides self-made bases, it’s the closest thing the game has to “Home Sweet Home” for the player. Or the closest experience to the first Dead Space, if you venture into the wrong sector…
It’s one thing to have multiple, huge galaxies to explore, but another if they are not empty but full of life. The player can meet NPC ships doing their lanes. Trade convoys travel to trade posts, pirates search for prey, explorers… well, explore.
It's your choice whether you will dock with them for a trade or attack for some plunderrr. Some of them you will find as crashed on planet. Save or loot? Decisions, decisions…
Butterflies pollinate plants, carnivores hunt, so if you choose so, you can observe some true nature! If something lives there, you can experience a truly breathing place to survey.
NPC talk with each other on the radio, traders roam, pirates hunt, and yarr! On a bigger scale, we have a full orbiting simulation for planets around the stars. Gravity works in wonky ways, but as developers said themselves – if they have to decide between gameplay and science, the gameplay always wins!
It’s robust. From upgrades to all your gear, ships, and base building to cooking! With upgrades, you can customize your tools, suit, ship, settlement, or… turn your materials into pure profit by taking all those raw ores and making expensive stuff for sale! Each update expands the game with new features!
It’s all about flying. The possibility to drop from orbit and have some pod racer-style dash through dangerous terrain is always nice. Or an asteroid belt. Or just some sick maneuvers over station/settlement.
Controlling your ship planet-side was a point of contention at launch because all you could do was travel from point A to point B, and there was no control over it. Now you can try for yourself to fit that smallest of gaps, like the Millennium Falcon in the Empire Strikes Back!
Your own settlers that come and go, depending on the reputation of the village. They gather resources and work around to help the community. You can even create a cantina to recreate the Greatest Hive of Scum and Villainy in the galaxy! And then protect it from giant robots with YOUR giant robot!
Or walk in STYLE. Because if there’s anything more stylish than a big, stompy exo mech, I don’t want to know about it. Whether in Exosuit, wheeled Roamer, or tamed local fauna, you can now traverse the surface with speed and comfort.
Need I say more?
The Hello Games studio constantly introduces major updates to the game, each with new content, and there’s no end in sight to it. They added Explorations that sound like Indiana Jones films, only in space; they added Sentinels that attack your settlements. Defend against them, or go postal on their cores.
