Assassin’s Creed Rogue is an action-adventure stealth game set in an open world. In this installment, you’ll be able to explore the Assassin’s Creed universe from a different perspective.
Fans are calling Assassin’s Creed Rogue the darkest chapter in Assassin’s Creed universe. Developers perfectly portrayed the betrayal of a fearless, young member of the Assassin Brotherhood. You’re going to discover his slow transformation to the dark path of a Templar. Is it really a dark path though?
Instead of playing as a Master Assassin, you’ll be taking an extraordinary journey as Shay Patrick Cormac, a fearless young Templar. Assassin’s Creed Rogue builds on award-winning, naval experience from Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, with improved gameplay and new features.
You’re going to visit an 18th century New York City, followed by an exploration of the American River Valley, and far to the icy, cold waters of the North Atlantic.
In 1752, Shay Patrick Cormac is a newly initiated member of the Assassin Brotherhood. While training with his mentor, one of the assassins delivers striking news. The Haitian city Port-au-Prince has been devastated by an earthquake.
This event is connected to the Templars searching for a Precursor temple containing a Piece of Eden. Shay is tasked with a dangerous mission to retrieve a Precursor box and manuscript linked to the temple from the Templars.
After two years, Shay successfully recovered the Piece of Eden. Unfortunately, everything went tragically wrong, and thousands of people died due to another earthquake. Guilt-driven, he’s attempting to destroy the manuscript to save the innocent.
He turns his back on the Assassins, who tried to end his life in response. Cast aside by so-called brothers, he undergoes a dark transformation to pursue his ultimate goal to bring down the Order. His actions will forever change the fate of the Brotherhood.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue features extended development and control of Shay’s ship, the Morrigan. Unlike its predecessor, the Morrigan can travel through rivers instead of just open seas.
New ship-based weapons include releasing an oil slick that can be ignited, Puckle guns, etc. Also, you have to watch out for enemies boarding the Morrigan during ship-to-ship combat! The exploration aspect is also enhanced, as certain icebergs can be rammed with an icebreaker.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue also features all-new gameplay mechanics on land. You can use enhanced eagle vision combined with new weapons. For example, the air rifle allows you to take out anyone from a distance silently. Combine it with different projectiles like firecrackers to defend against new enemy tactics.
Melee combat is also altered since you have to time your counterattacks, similar to Batman: Arkham series. Enemy Assassins can use the same skills as you. They will hide in bushes, blend in with crowds, and perform air assassinations against you. Use your set of new abilities and weapons to become the most feared assassin hunter in history!
