It's enjoyable to explore all the zones of the map, even those inhabited by aggressive monsters. In short, the feeling of complacency and expectation is remarkable.

Verdict: This time, we must lean towards Stardew Valley since you can explore it at your own pace and interact with NPCs and surroundings.

Terraria has many different combat mechanics that correspond to the open-ended classes. Basically, you can deliver melee, ranged, magic, and summoner attacks. The one you use will depend on your class and your basic skills. In short, Warriors perform hand combat, Mages wield weapons that need mana, Ranged prefer bows or guns, and summoners bring minions to life. 

The battle system in Stardew Valley is much simpler than the previous one. In SV, the damage you deliver depends on your weapon, which can be a hammer, a sword, a pike, etcetera. Accessories and better items like rings or boots provide stats bonuses to facilitate battle. Still, combat is rudimentary, and, personally, we believe is a bit silly.

Terraria does not have a formal leveling system or player class. However, every weapon and gear provide specific damage type, strengths, and weaknesses. In other words, you need to get weapons with better stats to be more powerful and beat stronger creatures and bosses. Besides, each weapon has complex abilities.

In Stardew Valley, your character has different skills, each with ten levels. Since it has RPG elements, you need to earn experience points to upgrade your skills and reach a new level. With a new skill level, the proficiency of the tool associated with the skill is immediately increased. In this sense, progression is smoother and feels more natural. Besides, at level 10, Stardew Valley allows you to professionalize one of two available professions. Furthermore, with specializations, you build your own path by leading efforts and resources to specific activities.

Verdict: Stardew Valley has a better leveling system among these two games since it's complete and depends totally on your efforts and activities.

Terraria has several game modes related to the gameplay's difficulty level. These modes are Journey Mode, Classic or Normal Mode, Expert Mode, Master Mode, and Legendary Mode.
