Starfield vs Fallout 4 – The Battle for the Best Bethesda Title!

Starfield vs Fallout 4 – The Battle for the Best Bethesda Title!

Bethesda games are in a completely different category than everything else. Whether those would be Fallout games, The Elden Scroll series, or the latest Starfield – those games have something different to them, an X factor of sorts.Whether it’s the fact that you just roam around their giant worlds with little to no loading screens, you have dozens of dialogue options with almost every NPC you will encounter, or the fact that the main story is only an add-on to the general discussion. Of course, it’s not just Fallout 4 and Starfield that are among the best games ever from this particular studio. Still, those are among the most recent, so there will be no technological advantage in comparison. We all love Skyrim, but it just can’t compete with those in terms of technological advancement. Whether you're eager for the cosmic voyage of Starfield or the post-apocalyptic chaos of Fallout 4, RoyalCDKeys has both at awesome prices. Dive into your preferred adventure first, then switch gears for a whole new gaming experience whenever you're ready. Grab Starfield and Fallout 4 at great prices and immerse yourself in two unforgettable gaming experiences without breaking the bank. With that in mind, put on your power armor, and let’s go to the shattered space that is Bethesda’s world! Let’s dive in!

Round 1 – World

Both games are creating a new and wonderful world. Although they are in stark contrast, they are all interesting and entertaining to play around. Whether it’s the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout or the many worlds of Starfield, we are positive that you will find something for yourself. So, let’s see how those differ!

Fallout 4

In Fallout 4, we live in a post-apocalypse, where the 1950s meet the 2050s. The world is full of bandits and groups that take advantage of the dire situation we all have found ourselves in. As a Vault survivor, in a place deep in the ground, you will get to meet an incredible enemy variety in the sounds of swing and jazz. The world of Fallout is a living and (hardly) breathing one, as the post-apocalypse we found ourselves in is extremely interesting!

Starfield

Starfield, on the other hand, is not one world but many worlds, planets, different cities, and experiences. You don’t have established settlements; you have found environments. To give you a better sense of just how big Starfield is, it looks a little bit like this (in square miles):

Starfield

Fallout 4

Fallout 3

Fallout New Vegas

Skyrim

Daggerfall

1 000 000

11

16

13

14

62

So yeah, it’s a giant endeavor and one of the biggest games ever created. As many of the planets you will visit are procedurally generated, there seems to be no end to the exploration. If you feel like the games these days are too short, at least Starfield can give you millions of hours of gameplay to go through all of that. So yeah, it is definitely worth the while

Verdict

So – which one is better? Well…the world of Fallout is definitely more exciting and fun to be in. It also has a lot of history behind it, as it’s not only the Fallout 4 you will be able to play but also all the previous titles.

Of course, dozens of alien civilizations are not something that you can underestimate, and the setting is definitely something to look forward to. So, we can’t really say which one is better. Let’s call it a draw.

Round 2 – Plot

When it comes to the plot, both games have their strengths. Skyrim boasts an expansive, open-world narrative filled with rich lore and memorable quests. On the other hand, Baldur's Gate 3 offers a more focused, story-driven experience with complex characters and branching paths. This will be a tough call! Nevertheless, let’s dive in!

Fallout 4

Starting with – Fallout 4. Let’s face it: we all loved the world of Fallout, and the main story is just an addition to all the craziness happening all around. Regarding writing, Fallout 4 is among the best games ever created. Except, of course, the New Vegas, which is a complete title that no other Bethesda game came even close to. It’s a skill to draft something that interesting, so we can only put Fallout 4 behind it.

In Fallout, we have an entirely personal story about a parent who is desperately trying to find their child after an apocalypse, only to find out that…well, you will be surprised. Although it’s not Dostoyewski, you get the feeling that someone took some time to draft this story and was actually invested in presenting you with some ideas. Of course, it’s all about the side quests in both games, as there are plenty of fantastic stories you will get to experience. You know, cannibals, human experiments – normal stuff!

Starfield

On the other side of things, we have Starfield with a giant space adventure with dozens of planets to venture to and…a bit of a problematic situation when it comes to player engagement. Now, don’t get us wrong, there are some moments in this game when Stafield is actually engaging and finding out more about different factions and what you can expect from your friends and foes – it’s something that is extremely important to do in this game.

However, the main story doesn’t really pull you in or make you feel super invested. The plot just sort of exists without much excitement or engagement, which is a bit disappointing. Overall, Starfield seems to be lacking a bit in the story department, which might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Conclusion

Although we love a bit of Starfield-based fun, we cannot honestly give this one to anything but Fallout 4. The plot takes you on a rollercoaster of an adventure, and the dark humor combined with the overall theme of this game just makes you want to play it over and over again. If we chose one over the other between these two games, we would definitely pick Fallout 4.

Round 3 – Graphics

Next, we have the graphics department, and what a department it is! It’s big, full of differences, and most importantly – incredibly well-polished. Now, let’s make it evident from the start – Bethesda games are never going to be this top of the top titles that no one can compete against, as there are just too many things you need to animate at every moment. But the developers did their best, and we are here to judge it!

Fallout 4

First, we start with Fallout 4, which is…well, an older game, that’s for sure. The graphics are still holding on, and we feel like, because of the coloring of this game, you can still play this title and not have an eye sore. Of course, it’s not the top-notch graphics department that you can expect from games released only a few years ago. However, the designs still look solid, facial expressions are more than capable, and the overall feel of the game does not turn you back. It’s not bad, and it’s not great.

Starfield

Starfield holds a different place in our hearts, as it’s a game that is all about the visuals in some way. The space looks wonderful, with those tiny pieces coming at you when you go to hyperspeed or those laser beams coming your way during the combat. It looks astonishing!

Additionally, we have never seen this much detail in one game, and it’s due, at least in some sense, to the procedurally generated worlds. Everything is being created as you are playing, within some limits, so it can look pretty great. Of course, it has its fair share of bugs and problems, like all Bethesda games, but let us tell you – it’s one of the more polished ones, for sure.

Conclusion

The conclusion can only be one thing – Starfield wins. In a heartbeat! It’s new, fresh, and has more time to develop. It’s just a superior game in that department. Of course, Fallout 4 has this intricate feel to it, like you don’t want to leave it in some ways, but it still has time on its head, and it’s not going back. So, in the discussion about the graphics – Starfield wins easily!

Round 4 – Gameplay

And finally, we have the gameplay aspect. The one, the only. We left it at the very end because, in the end, it’s pretty similar in both of these games. Fallout 4 and Starfield are in their hearts “a Bethesda game,” so you can pretty much know what you will be dealing with. Gamers all over the world love it, and we cannot stress enough how fun it is to go into this river once more, but under different circumstances. Let’s see what those two have in store!

Fallout 4

Starting with – Fallout 4. Here, you mainly do your everyday survival RPG, where you create characters at the beginning and go from there. The gameplay is pretty simple, and there have been no incredible changes made to it since Fallout 3, but you can see how great of a concept it was back in the day.

The introduction of the V.A.T.S. system, even though it was initially criticized, greatly impacted the overall fight against mutants and blowing their heads and limbs. The ability to slow down time and shoot in a particular part of an enemy – it’s a great asset, for sure. Additionally, the implementation of the settlement building in the fourth game, power armor, and even more workshopping made Fallout 4 a complete game with even greater possibilities.

Starfield

Starfield, on the other hand, feels like Fallout 4 on steroids. So, you could change your gun specs? Cute. You can build your own ship in this one. Starfield went all out for the space exploration, and it paid off! The shipbuilding, changing your interior and weapons, piloting your spaceship, and all the other mods you can add to it to make it more suitable for you – it’s definitely a dream come true for many.

Starfield is built on an enhanced version of the Creation Engine 2, which is a step up from what we've seen before. Plus, when it comes to weapon customization, there's a way wider range of mods to play with, and since it's set in the future, you can bet there's a ton more tech to tinker with compared to the 1950s vibe of Fallout.

Conclusion

Although we love the V.A.T.S. and Fallout mechanics as a whole, you just can’t beat the scope of Starfield. It’s so hard to compare those two on that basis, as Starfield may not have better gameplay, as in enjoyment per se, but if you just go through all of the different things you can do in it, you just can’t help but be in awe with this game.

Starfield feels like a mystery that is getting discovered with every step into the hazardous environment on every planet. Crafting, exploring, fighting, and flying. Everything is polished to perfection, with the ceiling being so high above our heads that it’s only getting more and more terrible each day. It’s satisfying, inspiring, and everything in between. Definitely worth giving a shot.

Starfield vs Fallout 4 – Conclusion

And here we are, the winner is – Starfield! Mostly because it’s a newer title, and it has some of the most impressive mechanics we have seen so far in gaming. Both titles are worth checking out, as they are some of the best in the history of gaming. Each one of them has something to present to the larger audience.

Fallout 4 is a game that will make you fall in love with this sardonic portrayal of the dystopian future where everything blew up and, because of our actions, we are forced to live in a sub-optimal situation where we can’t rely on each other, and everything is dangerous.

Starfield offers a different perspective, where the future is not dystopian but just is. The development never stopped, so now we are traveling through the skies, fighting in giant ships, and terraforming multiple planets. The game looks stunning, and it’s one of the most interesting games regarding world-building. There are many different aspects of this game that are well-polished.

You are welcome to check out both of those and – the other fantastic games on our site. There are a lot of those out there for you to browse through so we are positive that you will find something for yourself. See you in the next one!
