For all the history buffs, you have the epic adventure of the Middle Ages: hunger, thirst, and keeping your folks safe. 

Your main goal is to grow your settlement, create a dynasty, and become the land's ruler. You can have a family and children and live like them in the next generations. It’s one of the best games for presenting a realistic portrayal of ensuring long-lasting prosperity by teaching your kids the craft. You can also trade and explore the medieval landscape as you wish. The only thing stopping you is your imagination. And the game field of view. So, with that in mind, let’s go over similar games to Medieval Dynasty.

You must get new resources, live in harsh conditions, and fight against giant monsters.

There is also an additional element of fantasy, as interacting with Gods may need other fun elements. Especially considering that you are a fallen young man trying to get through mythical purgatory. There are bosses, giant creatures, and lots and lots of crafting in this game, so we are positive that you will find something to your liking. The game is a total sandbox, so you can play however you want – looking out for your future or exploring nature and the map as it goes.

Next up, we have the Going Medieval game. It’s a fun title where you can explore the simulation of building a colony during medieval times. A devastating plague has ravaged the world. Your mission is to reconstruct the kingdom in its aftermath. You'll need to construct fortresses, farm, craft, defend against various threats, and explore diplomatic options and trade.

As a ruler, your goal is to make your community thrive and survive during these harsh times. The game is similar to the Medieval Dynasty as it also aims to portray the Middle Ages as a harsh reality where you need to make your way out of this mystery. So, gather resources, create an army to fight-off the potential attackers, and overall – immerse yourself in this wonderful world of medieval, plague-ridden world.

With a procedurally created world, you can be sure that you will never be bored in this game and – never get to experience “good times.” So – take it or leave it – Going Medieval is a great survival game to explore!

Another pick on our list is The Wandering Village. Here, you have something completely different to work through. As with the Medieval Dynasty, you need to take care of your people; the only difference is that your whole colony lives on the back of a giant creature called Onbu.

It walks through the post-apocalyptic world with you, and as it does, you need to gather resources, craft new equipment, and manage the life of people behind it.

It’s strategy and survival all in one, on the back of this weird dinosaur. There are plenty of challenges awaiting you on top of the Onbu, and you need to make sure that your decisions are suitable for your community and the creature. You need to make your people stay alive, create housing for your fellow citizens and overall – survive! It’s a unique and magical world you can delve into, and we recommend it!

Grounded, on the other hand, is a survival game set right beneath our feet. A group of young survivors are trying to battle through the world of bugs! Unfortunately, they shrunk, so now they need to find the tools necessary to stay alive and return to their normal size. During this search, they will encounter many ants, spiders, and wasps that will try to stop them in their tracks.

Going through this backyard will be challenging, so you need to build shelter and craft bows to fight against ants, collect water to hydrate yourself, and do anything else you may need to survive. The best aspect of this game, though, is its co-op mode. Here, you can enjoy this title with friends and fight through the lush jungle of your garden together!

Another fantastic title on our list is V Rising. It is a twist on the concept of a survival game, as it is, indeed, about vampires. Apart from surviving in this vampire-infested world, you need to thrive! You are not the person being hunted struggling to survive, no. Here, you are the hunter, and the world is full of your victims. So, if you want to become the very best like no one ever was, you need to fight through the other hunters and stay alive with the blood of the innocent.

You are a recently awakened vampire who is all about learning their supernatural abilities. You get to use dark magic to fend off your enemies, fight with different shapes you can turn into, and generally – have a lot of fun fighting against the threats ahead. It’s immersive, it has fantastic survival elements, and you can expand the gaming concept by being the anti-hero and essentially the bad among the crowd. So, if you like your survival games differently, V-Rising is the game for you.

And now, we have My Time at Portia for something completely different. Here, you are all about making everything sweet and fun. The main troublemaker is a player with a lot to give to this community. You need to farm, craft, and explore in order to build the best relationships this world has ever seen. The best thing about this title is that it’s so sweet and innocent. Comparing it to the previous game and even the Medieval Dynasty is as if you took all the harsh elements and left only the crafting and development.

You work as a builder in Portia, where your father’s workshop is having trouble, so you need to find jobs all over the city. You’ll have plenty of fun activities, commissions to fulfill, and an overall town to build. If you want to become the talk of the town, marry your townsfolk, and become the sensation in the city – you can do just about anything you’d like! It's worth recommending for those who prefer the quiet side of things.

Another exciting title on our list is Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. Of course, it’s not a survival game per se, but it is so highly involved in the medieval world that we cannot just put it behind us. The Mount & Blade II is the successor to the viral first game, where you get to experience the medieval-inspired world full of knights, merchants, and creatures.

Why is it so interesting? The medieval world has incredible potential to present the good, the bad, and the evil. 

In this game, you get to experience the Medieval world entire of war, fights, forging alliances, and crushing your enemies. You get to be an archer, fight from the horse, with a sword, axe, or whatever you feel like. In the second game, you get the classical – the more, the better. It’s full of customizable elements, even better economy, and more modifications to your game, so if you liked the first game or just want to find some good medieval match to have fun in – this title is just for you.

Second to last, we have the Subnautica. It’s something completely different yet so familiar when creating a survival game that is a creative twist on the whole concept. We find ourselves on an alien planet submerged underwater, tasked with exploring every possibility to uncover our escape route and solve the mystery lurking within.

The best thing about this title is the world. The marine life is full of wonders, magical creatures, and incredible ecosystem elements that are all about living, not just fighting with you. It means that you get to experience this universe's wonders while not only surviving those harsh conditions.

So, survive, thrive, craft, and explore! Subnatutica allows you to get the classic survival experience and much more. Hunting and crafting is one thing, but experiencing a world full of wonders and potential cannot be underestimated. So, if you liked the Medieval Dynasty but feel like it could be improved upon when it comes to different scenery or just want to find something else – this is the title you should consider.

And finally, we have The Forest. If you want a survival game that not only allows you to delve into the world of community building in the Middle Ages but also – gives you one of the most hostile environments ever created for human beings, where every second is filled with fear and anxiety – then the Forest is just for you!

It’s a horror game mainly focused on the survival aspect of the gameplay. You hunt for food, build shelters for you and your company, and try to survive in the mutants-infested forest. As one who survived a plane crash and found themselves on the cannibalistic mutant island, you must explore the world and find your place in it. 

You can do it alone or with your friends' help. That way, you can take care of yourself and your buddies. It’s dark; it’s gore; it’s full of fantastic elements that will make your gaming journey something to look forward to.
