The sheer scope of this game is incredible! It combines all the elements of gaming people loved throughout the years and adds some additional features to create the most enjoyable experience you have ever had. Taking control of one of the Guardians begins a fantastic and epic journey through space and time that can be only compared to Mass Effect games with righteous and flirty Commander Shepard.

The best thing about Destiny 2 is probably how grand this title is. You have multiple classes to choose from, different playstyles, abilities, futuristic weapons, a chance for some legendary loot, and, most importantly, the ability to go through all those things with a friend in a co-op experience.

And there is a lot to do in this world. From Campaigns, Strikes, Raids, PvP matches, and a lot of exploration on many different planets, Destiny 2 is just a game that never gets boring. With a clever level-up system that makes you feel like you have accomplished something and that your new skills matter, you can never stop playing. This game came out in 2017, and further expansions remain. Like, what kind of game can be that popular?

But maybe it’s because of the social element of it all. It’s just so fun to participate in this great community, full of clans who support each other during missions and other struggles. If you think this could be something you’d enjoy, you should check it out. Dozen-or-so hours are entirely free, so you can test it out if it’s something for you. Apex Legends

  • Release Date: February 2019

  • Developer(s): Respawn Entertainment

  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

  • Meta Score: 89

But if you don’t want to play Destiny 2 anymore, you can always check out Apex Legends. It’s another game on our list that has been around for some years but is still gaining popularity. Similarly to Destiny 2, Apex Legends is also a game full of looting, picking different characters, finding legendary weapons, etc. The only difference is that Destiny is a multi-faceted game with tons of RPG elements to it, while Apex is, well, it’s a battle royale. You get sent on a map, grab whatever you can, and kill everyone in sight.

The whole thing occurs in Outlands, which you may have known from the Titanfall series. Teams of three or two players take on each other so that, in the end – there can be only one.

There are plenty of characters to choose from, as every Legend that participates in this wild, weird world have their own set of skills and abilities. And – you play differently using each one of those. Whether you would like to choose something more heavy and defensive, something quicker and more mobile, or just a Legend with crazy-strong, sheer firepower – there are plenty of those for you to choose from.

The game's biggest asset is how communicative and easy to navigate this game is while simultaneously being dynamic and rather demanding. The teamwork makes the dream work in that case, as you can be the best player in the world, but if there are two enemies against you, your chances for survival plummet substantially.

Additionally, Apex has a great collection of skins and cosmetic items that you can purchase so that the enemies you left behind can, in their last breath, whisper out “awesome.” And there is where the game makes most of the money. It’s free-to-play and free-to-win, as all the accessories do not affect the gameplay. The Bloodhound version of the game we have provided for you has some of the coolest skins you can get for this particular game, and that’s it.

So, if you like a stylish game with many characters to choose from, a dynamic shooter that you can have fun with up to three friends, then Apex Legends is a game for you. With expansions coming out every few months, it’s a must-play.

Deep Rock Galactic

  • Release Date: May 2020

  • Developer(s): Ghost Ship Games

  • Platforms: Windows, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

  • Meta Score: 85

Next, we have one of the most meme-able games on our list – Deep Rock Galactic. Saying that the premise of this game is crazy would be an understatement. So listen, you and your dwarf friends are searching through the universe in your spaceship, looking for something to mine. You are making some contracts, having fun, talking to each other, drinking beer – standard space dwarfs stuff.

You can choose from several classes: Gunner, Driller, Scout, and Engineer. Each one of them can help you out in a unique way to create and find, well, whatever you were currently looking for in those space stones. The key in Deep Rock Galactic is cooperation. You need to work together to overcome all the obstacles and become the diamonds that you are. Remember, it’s not all fun and games down there, as you will encounter many obstacles, from something as basic as worms to some pretty giant bosses that can interfere with your alien planet exploration.

Regarding visuals, Deep Rock Galactic is full of vibrant colors and dwarf aesthetics we all cherish and love these days. From cave systems through sound and lighting, everything screams – dwarfs rule!

After each mission, you can unlock special abilities, weapons, and cosmetics for the following tasks. People worldwide fell in love with the Depp Rock Galactic, primarily because of the dwarfs in space aspect, but if it were a boring game, no one would ever play it, wouldn’t they? It’s an immersive experience that pretty much every gamer will enjoy. The most important thing about this game is that it’s just hilarious. And it teaches you that dwarfs should help each other achieve their common goal. Because if they would not take care of themselves, who would?

Borderlands 3

  • Release Date: September 2019

  • Developer(s): Gearbox Software

  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One, macOS, Stadia, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5

  • Meta Score: 91

Another looter-shooter on our list – Borderlands 3. Another installment of a viral tale of vault hunters, this time not only on Pandora, but with various planets included. Borderlands 3 is an incredibly crazy and fast-paced first-person shooter where you have almost everything you would expect from a game like Destiny 2, with a bit of craziness on top of everything. And by little, we mean – everything is soaking from craziness. You can barely see anything else.

After beating Handsome Jack in the second game, we are now fighting with the militant set of Calypso Twins, who are, once again, trying to take control of the galaxy. Will they succeed? Well, probably not; nevertheless, we will do everything possible to prevent that.

Gameplay-wise, it’s a pretty standard looter-shooter boilerplate; you have four classes, each with different abilities and possibilities, each with a diverse wide array of weapons to choose from, valuable resources like Eridium to find, and just overall “personality” to them. The bosses are incredible to look at, really imaginatively done, and most of them are total lunatics, so it gives you another layer of humor to the madness-infested gameplay. Additionally, there is a billion procedurally generated weapons to choose from, so we are positive that you will find something for yourself; it would be impossible if you couldn’t.

But, as with all things, it’s always better to experience it with a friend, so you can always use an easy-to-navigate co-op mode and play with your friends together or competitively and even against other players.

The best thing about Borderlands 3 is how much it builds upon the previous games. It is the biggest and most advanced Borderlands game, with some crazy characters, universe-traveling adventures, and dozens of vehicles. If you like a good laugh while playing a game, this one is definitely for you. Especially if you count the dozens of different expansions and DLCs, you can download – the game seems never to end!

The Division

  • Release Date: March 2019

  • Developer(s): Massive Entertainment

  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One, Stadia

  • Meta Score: 84

The next big game on our list is The Division 2, a sequel to the critically acclaimed The Division game. You can read the next sentence in the “trailer guy” voice. In a world with no rules, where a viral infection decimated the population, there is a group of brave individuals—the Operators. So, you are the operator, a highly trained division agent responsible for the whole outbreak problem. And, simultaneously, taking care of pretty bad people you will encounter.

This game has plenty of content, as it builds up on the standards set by its predecessor, with lots of co-op missions to choose from that you can do with friends or other players online. Contrary to most games on this list, this is a third-person shooter, so it gives you a unique perspective on the whole gaming experience. And there is plenty to experience. From raids, strongholds, and an immersive main campaign, Division 2 is a highly detailed shooter that you can take on from many different playstyles, whatever your favorite approach.

You can choose to be a sharpshooter, survivalist, or demolitionist. Each class has a different way of approaching the enemy; some are more direct, and some are more supportive. With such a spread, we are sure you will find something that will suit your needs. Additionally, the game heavily emphasizes development, so getting new gear and developing your character is critical to survival.

But, it’s not only the story you should be considered with. The Division 2 has a great endgame feature with Dark Zones, a PvP kind of battle with extremely high-risk but also – great rewards. Additionally, there are Factions of different enemies that control different parts of Washington, where the game takes place, and you can fight with them and evolve your character.

In the end, the best thing about this particular title is the open-world approach combined with how immersive this game is. It really makes you feel like you are part of a bigger puzzle. And, with some new features consistently added to the gameplay, this may seem like a time investment, but this will be a time well spent.

Dying Light 2

  • Release Date: February 2022

  • Developer(s): Techland

  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

  • Meta Score: 77

Another game similar to Destiny 2 on our list is Dying Light 2. It also occurs in the post-apocalyptic world, full of incredible parkour-based stories of people running away from zombies. Your name is Aiden Caldwell, someone with some exceptional parkour talent that runs around the cleverly named “The City.”

The second installment of Dying Light brings out what was best in the first game. It is still enjoyable to just swing around the city, killing monsters and having some fun, but also – it’s even more fun to do it with so many modifiable weapons that the game provides to you.

When it comes to the story, it’s still solid. Well, perhaps a tad harsh, considering that we are talking about a zombie apocalypse where survival hinges on your parkour skills. But it is still a fun experience nevertheless.

There are factions in the city and multiple narratives; you can join the one you are most interested in and have relationships with other characters. There is a lot of good RPG action in this game; we have to give them that.

Additionally, the day and night cycle we all enjoyed in the first game is also in the sequel, with hordes of infected being even more irritating than in the previous title.

But what makes this game exceptional is the combat aspect. Killing zombies in this game feels like nothing else in the world. Honestly, it may be one of the most fun zombie games ever, with so many combinations of weapons to choose from that it’s just astonishing how much time they had to spend on it.

With a co-op multi-feature on top of that, you cannot go wrong with some good parkouring. Of course, until the night comes on.

Outriders

  • Release Date: April 2021

  • Developer(s): People Can Fly

  • Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia

  • Meta Score: 73

And finally, as our last pick, we have the famous/infamous Outriders. You may have heard of this title in recent years, as it was supposed to be the next big thing on Xbox Game Pass. Well, it was, and it wasn’t. It was because the demo of this game was one of the most downloaded in the history of the gaming period. On the other hand, the game was glitchy upon launch, borderline unplayable at times, so most of the fanbase just didn’t want to participate.

Nevertheless, a few years have passed since the release of Outriders, and now the game is perfected, with no issues whatsoever.

You are an Outrider, a soldier that was set on a mission to take on the planet Enoch, the only way for a human colony to survive after Earth was destroyed. The concept is pretty simple, as most people have probably seen the Avatar movie, but it was a refreshing take on it, nevertheless.

The gameplay, though, is something that makes this game stand out. As it was the studio behind the Gears of War series, there are plenty of similarities between those titles, with added special ability bonus. In Outriders, you control one of the four magical beings: Devastator, Pyromancer, Technomancer, and Trickster. And those abilities, combined with the Gears of War hide-and-shoot kind of gameplay – make the game incredible.

Of course, there is an upgrade system with different abilities accessible at different levels; you have other weapons, armor, and modifications to find. It’s a looter-shooter, essentially.

And you can play it solo or with a friend. There are three different classes to master and powerful enemies to fight against. Overall, the trick is to have as much fun as you possibly can with the powers you were granted, as they really make you feel like an extremely powerful being. And, with up to three players in co-op mode, you will move mountains together.

So, if you liked Destiny 2 and you wanted to find something that combines the skills from the Bungie game and gameplay from Gears of War – you should not look much further than this!
