Beyond Light is a major and the fifth expansion for the base game, Destiny 2. You will have to travel to Jupiter's icy moon, Europa. In this celestial corp, you will face Fallen Kell Eramis.
This DLC marks the return of some characters, such as Exo Stranger from the original campaign and Variks, from the House of Wolves’s expansion.
Besides, Beyond Light presents more content across the game, including PvE, weaponry, raid, and missions.
Some locations from the first three years of Destiny 2 aren’t present in the game anymore. That said, Bungie plans to recycle older destinations to enrich the game.
Beyond Light has four seasonal content offerings for Year 4 of the game:
The story focuses on Erasmis the Shipstealer, now the Kell of darkness. He wants to take revenge, side by side with many Fallen.
In the beginning, you visit Variks, the loyal, at Jupiter's icy moon, Europa. Once you’re there, Variks will warn you about Erasmis, who uses the Stasis, a new power of the Darkness.
After an Erasmis' attack, you'll head to the ancient pyramid ship. Here you find Exo Stranger, who helps you defeat Erasmis’s lieutenants. With the help of Stasis, you’ll be able to defeat Erasmis and prevent a second collapse of the civilization.
The experience in Beyond Light is a mix of first-person and third-person shooters. You´ll be able to use a power called Light that gives you superpowers and the ability of regeneration.
The game presents two types of gaming:
* Players vs. environment.
* Player vs. player in a massively multiplayer online world.
Cooperative modes include story related-missions, such as dungeons, strikes, raids, open-world public events, and seasonal events. Matches are about competition with other guardians and/or team vs team in the Gambit arena.
Beyond Light introduces a new main element of damage called Stasis. This is about creating ice and dealing cold-based damage. Each class receives a new subclass that supports Stasis abilities. Other abilities can be customized by assigning fragments and aspects to the core.
Instead of the weekly bounty system, you can access a seasonal challenge-based system, bringing a new challenge every week. If you complete these challenges, you’ll get epic supers bounties.
In the progression system, you must earn ranks to unlock rewards at certain rank levels. Season 15 introduced matchmaking and a solo queuing through which you can earn the rewards of Trials.
