Middle Earth: Shadow Of War is widely recognized due to its original Nemesis system. It’s a villain generator capable of populating Mordor with a handful of procedurally generated Orcs. Each one has its own look, gameplay, traits, and personality. Thanks to this system, defeating Sauron’s army doesn’t feel repetitive.

The game also offers different paths for completing quests, so you don’t have to hack and slash through enemies all the time. Tearing apart Orcs and monsters using Talion’s deadly powers feels very satisfying when coupled with fatal finishers. You can also create your army of Orcs and fight your enemies in large-scale battles.

The combat is fluid and features various finishers, just like Witcher 3. But instead of decapitating Drowner’s in half, you’ll be cutting a cyclops head off.

The game offers 60+ hours of gameplay with different classes to choose from. You can play as Fighter, Archer, or Mage and develop them into other sub-classes later on. 

It has a lot of depth when it comes to combat, considering different builds and playstyles, but overall it all comes down to slaying giant monsters.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed series became very popular throughout the years, although at some point fans complained that the series feel stale and repetitive. Developers eventually gave in and altered the mechanics to detach from previous games.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla took a lot from The Witcher 3. The game is set in the medieval era and features choice mechanics with long-lasting consequences. Not to mention your own “Roach” to travel around the continent.

Valhalla is less of an RPG but more of an action-adventure Viking immersive sim. The ability to conquer foreign lands as a Viking king is not something we’ve seen in other games. Valhalla puts stealth aside in favor of fluid, open-combat.

If you loved the replayability potential and lengthy campaign in Witcher 3, you shouldn’t be disappointed with this one either. I think it’s a significant turning point for the Assassin’s Creed games regarding its gameplay mechanics. It’s also available on most platforms, and the only exception is Nintendo Switch.
