Starting with – Outriders! If you have never heard about this game before – you are in luck! This is one of the titles to play if you are a fan of Gears of War and definitely one of the most interesting games where heavy weapons and rocket launchers meet powers beyond our understanding. Just to give you a perspective, the demo for this game has one of the most downloads in the history of gaming, with 2 million downloads only in the first week.

And let us tell you – there is a lot to play around in this game. Whether it’s the multiplayer feature or single-player assets – the world of Enoch, a planet where everything takes place, is one of the most creative places you will see in a third-person shooter. You play an Outrider, a soldier set on a mission to find a place for humans to survive after the Earth is destroyed. We know it feels quite a bit like Avatar, but the story is not that bad, to be honest.

But it’s not the plot where the game shines, but the gameplay. Outriders is one of the best duck-and-shoot games ever due to Outriders’ powers. There are essentially four classes for you to choose from:

• Devastator – a sort of Turkish fighter with a lot of armor and health;

• Pyromancer – classic DPS, rather long-range, powerful attacks;

• Technomancer – gardener, set on creating devices that you can put around to confuse the enemy and deal damage;

• Trickster – a mentalist, can teleport behind enemies and create giant auras where time is slowed down (a bit like in Spec Ops)

The game is also, believe it or not, a looter-shooter, as you collect different weapons with greater and greater abilities in each one of them. Definitely worth playing around and finding the best tactics. Especially considering the fact that it’s one of the chillest experiences ever regarding co-op play, and we are all for it!

In this installment, you will get the Commander Shepard story that you can relieve once again, or for the first time, and see what the fuss is all about. The Rogue Spectre Saren Arterius, with an army of machines, is on the quest to conquer the galaxy. Will you be able to stop them?

This comes with all the sequels and DLCs that were released ever for this game. It’s a great bundle to fully immerse yourself in the world of Mass Effect, all in a 4K Ultra HD remastered version. And, as there are over 40 DLCs to play around with, we are positive that you will experience quite a lot of fun in this game!

Mass Effect was, in the end, the predecessor when it came to RPG games that combined tactical shooting and elements of role-play like none other before. Cover-based action was first introduced, well, probably a long time ago, but it was perfected by Mass Effect and indeed created a trend for many games to come. Additionally, the depth of the story, intergalactic soap opera, where you could save the world (or not), has dozens of affairs, and go on dozens of side quests – it’s a title that you just have to play if you’re a fan of gaming as a whole.

The next title in the games like Gears of War on our list is Tom Clancy’s The Divison 2! Here, we also have a dying planet, lots of souls to help out, and one question in our mind: How do we not get infected?

Division 2 is an extremely rewarding multiplayer title where you get to experience what it was like when the pandemic changed the course of the whole world. So, just like in 2020, but it's a lot more deadly. This viral infection, however, took over the whole world and left little to no people alive. You are one of those brave souls who managed to survive and try to change the awful world that you have found yourself in. When there are no rules, someone has to step in and take charge.

The gameplay is something that you may find similar to Gears of War experience. Apart from the whole “world collapsing” kind of experience that is common in both titles, there is a lot of shooting, slashing, and murdering all around. And, you are not an invincible god that can take anyone, so, as in Gears of War, there is a lot of tactical shooting and getting behind the cover.

It’s a third-person action game where you can not only have a co-op experience, like in Gears of War, but also a little bit of PvP. And there are a couple of classes that you can choose from if you want to get the best out of it. You can be either a sharpshooter, survivalist, or demolitionist. Choose the one that suits you best and create an experience that will make you scream with excitement.

Additionally, this game has some sick endgame called Dark Zones, where you have high-risk, high-reward missions that seem to be going forever. Evolve, adapt, and become the master of your Division! See you on the map!

Another wonderful game on our list is Dead Space Remake, released in 2023. If you haven’t played the original game, you are in luck, as this is one of the best remakes that were ever released. It combines the quality of the original title with the new graphics in the best way possible. And – it’s definitely suitable for our list!

In Dead Space, you are essentially having a Gears of War experience but as an even more vulnerable creature. It’s a survival game at heart and a creative way of allowing you to smash some aliens while also making you not a soldier but an engineer.

In this game, you are playing Issac Clark, who got stranded in space as his ship was attacked by aliens. Seems like a normal day, right? Well, it’s not, as it gets more and more problematic with each second. You find yourself on a space station that is full of monsters whose primary purpose is to murder everything they find. And let me tell you, those Necromorphs are some of the best-created villains you will ever encounter in your lifetime. They have this uneasy feeling to them, an uncanny valley kind of experience that you can hardly find these days with those modern villains.

The original title was first released in 2008 as a survival horror, and it made some great strides when it came to quality gaming. As Issac Clarke, an engineer who is facing faceless monsters, you will most likely not make it out alive with some face-one combat, so it’s best for you to duck, hide, and duck some more.

The game is quite an experience, and we cannot recommend it enough to all the enjoyers of horror/action games we all cherish and love. Definitely worth checking out and making it your next favorite title!

Remnant had a lot of potential back in the day, but it seems like it didn’t get the recognition it deserved. Well, we are here to show you this sleeper hit and convince you that you should, indeed, go back from the ashes once more.

The game revolves around a mystery world after the apocalypse, where a certain person creates nightmares that change the world that we know. You are one of the lucky survivors who, as they met with other ones, decided to change the reality you found yourself in and restore everything to the way it was.

When it comes to gameplay, you cannot get more Gears-y than this game. You are extremely vulnerable to attacks, so the dodge/hide/attack combo is essential for survival. Additionally, as there are plenty of terrific monsters roaming around, it’s safe to assume that you will need some fierce power to get through those enemies. And, well, there are plenty of those for you to find on your way to glory. The upgrade system is pretty much the same as in Dark Souls, so if you’re familiar with that, you will feel in Remnant as in the home.

The game is rather difficult, so you need to prepare yourself for dying quite a bit, but with a little bit of help from your friends, you will surely manage to get over it in no time and get rid of even the most dangerous threat! Definitely one of the more fun games on our list, and it has a story to match the gameplay as well! Check it out!

Another title on our list is a game that keeps on giving…you the zombies to kill. It’s World War Z! We had aliens from above, aliens from the Earth’s core, an infected population, and aliens on a completely different planet. So, the only sensible situation to add to this list is – zombies!

World War Z is a third-person action game that gives us what we all need in our lives – another game about murdering zombies. For some reason, this genre is full of different titles focused on killing the undead. And we are all about it!

This title takes place in the Vatican City, where you take the role of one of three survivors. You can play it as a co-op or just go through dozens of zombie hordes all the time, everywhere. Each character has a different set of abilities that you can use in order to get the best out of every single fight. Endless zombie hordes are really endless, and you can play them over and over again. It never gets boring!

Each mission is a section of events that you need to complete in order to push through. It can be calling a helicopter, maybe repairing something, or getting through waves of zombies….sounds familiar? If so, then you are correct; this is exactly what Gears of War is all about. If you enjoyed it then, then you will surely enjoy it here. And, especially for the fans of Marcus Phoenix and friends, there is a special World War Z: Aftermath Horde Mode XL that is, well, exactly what the name suggests.

With every step, it gets harder and harder, so if you were looking for a quick play, this is definitely not for you. Gears of War fans will be pleased to spread a little bit of mayhem in the zombie squadrons coming your way!

It may not have been the first one to create the genre, like Kill Switch or Max Payne, but it was definitely a shooter that utilized cover mechanics to the fullest.

The original came out in 2009 and created quite a bit of commotion then. It was an action-packed third-person experience during times when the first-person-shooter genre was the crowned king of gaming. The likes of Battlefields and Call of Duty were ruling the world, and it seemed that it was supposed to stay like that.

This game is full of Martian enemies who still do not understand that they need a little bit of freedom in their lives. So, you will face them while often getting behind the cover during your play. The best thing about this title is the total mayhem it presents to you. You have modern weaponry to choose from and dozens of vehicles to attack your enemies with. Moreover, Red Faction operates on a dynamic destruction system where one thing leads to another, and you can show your enemies a pretty problematic situation when you jump out on them through the wall after crushing their base with another building.

Additionally, as the remastered version is the improved one, you will get better visuals and an even greater selection of weapons and environmental traps to get your opponents. It may not be the best game on this list, but we felt like it had such a lighthearted theme that all those big-shot games could be used from time to time.
