Tekken 7 is the seventh installment of the Tekken series, following the same formula as its predecessors. Like in every fighting game, two characters meet in a battle arena for a 1v1 fight. The main idea is to use your combat skills and deplete your opponent’s health bar before he does.
The action takes place on three-dimensional stages, where you can move to your opponent’s sides as well as forward and back. This approach sets it apart from games like Mortal Kombat, where you fight on a 2.5D arena.
The game is quite complex yet accessible to just about anyone wanting to mash buttons. It is mostly inspired by martial arts and fighting styles from all over the world. That said, you need to focus on delivering strikes rather than shooting magical projectiles.
The story mode in Tekken 7 focuses on the untold tales of the Mishima bloodline. It follows the events shown in Tekken 6.
Although it’s a direct continuation, you don’t need to play the previous installment to understand what’s going on. Unless you want to delve into its real depth, then it’s highly recommended.
Azazel was destroyed. Unfortunately, a war between the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation is still tearing down the world. The plot focuses on the events leading to the final confrontation between Heihachi Mishima and his son, Kazuya. Unravel the reasons for their ceaseless conflict.
The story is told through in-game cutscenes that transition into battles. Some of the events are shown by still images with dialogue. The plot will switch between different perspectives throughout your playthrough.
The game consists of 14 chapters for the main story, with two epilogue chapters that unlock after completing them. It also offers Character Episodes independent from the Story Mode.
Story Mode is just an introduction to what this great game has to offer. Tekken 7 delivers various game modes where you get lost for long hours, especially if you want to master every playable character.
The game features constant updates adding new fighters to the roster. As for 2020, it offered 51 playable characters to choose from. Not bad for a title released back in 2015.
The primary destination for every beginner out there. It’s perfect for practicing new moves. Of course, it’s also good for having fun without the pressure of online battles.
