Hollow Knight is an indie game developed by Team Cherry publisher. It’s one of the popular games that have hand-drawn art and a sophisticated action-platform control system.

Inside is another horror game considered Limbo’s spiritual successor, developed by PlayDead publisher. This time, you play as a young boy being hunted and alone in a world that resembles the Pale City from Little Nightmares 2.

As a PlayDead classic, players control an unnamed protagonist trying to escape from being caught. The thing is that as you progress through, you enter into an underground facility that’s keeping a terrible secret from the world.

The game starts with two young girls. They finished their vacations, now heading to a mountain clearing to watch some fireworks. They lived in a happy town, but when night sets in, the place becomes enveloped in darkness.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Focus Entertainment publisher and Asobo Studio bring you a 3D story set during the Plague times. You will follow the story of two brothers during the darkest times in history. You are haunted by Inquisition soldiers through several scenarios from old Europe.

Joey Drew Studios brings a first-person classic horror game that involves the past of animation and transports it to future generations.

This is a visually stunning, physics-based puzzle platforming game where you will have to play with Yarny, a figure made by humans to represent the ties that bind loved ones together. Go through different stages, each one with a different perspective, to reconnect the long-lost memories of a family.

This story isn’t scary at all. On the contrary, it explores love, hope, and the journey of a life trying to reconnect with loved ones.

Hello Neighbor

TinyBuild purchaser brings to life the classic horror of having a terrifying neighbor. Hello Neighbor is a stealth horror game about sneaking out into your neighbor’s house and learning about the terrible secrets he’s hiding.

The premise of this game is that you’re a young boy with a huge imagination. You check on your neighbor’s house with some binoculars just to see that he’s doing something shady. Your curiosity makes you sneak to his house in the search for answers.

The problem is that you’re facing an AI with the capacity to learn how to counter your moves. It’s quite a challenge because if you go through the yard and enter the house, the next time, you probably will find some bear traps or even electroshock therapy.

The bad neighbor knows how to move through his home, so make sure not to underestimate him. If you like this game, there’s also a sequel where the evil neighbor is back at it.

Fran Bow

Killmonday Games publisher develops Fran Bow, a 2D horror adventure about a little girl that must deal with a mental disorder and face an unfair world.

The game starts with Fran witnessing the loss of her parents. She finds them dismembered at their home, which is a big hit for a child. In her desperation, she runs towards the woods with the company of a black cat called Mr. Midnight.

When she realizes that her parents are dead, she goes into shock. After recovering, she notices she’s not in the woods but in a mental asylum. You escape from the institution and head home to find Aunt Grace, an elderly woman that is your only relative alive.

If you enjoy 2D horror games with an incredible narrative, this one's for you. Even though the graphics aren’t that great, the story will immerse you into a creepy world.

SOMA

Developed by the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA is a sci-fi horror game that explores what it actually means to be a human. This unsettling story takes place below the Atlantic Ocean, in a submarine facility that looks like hell was let loose.

You found yourself without a radio or food. There are no people there, only machines, and they start to think they are people. 

In this suffocating journey, you will have to dive deep into the events that led to the isolation of the facility. To your surprise, you’re not alone; there are inhabitants that you should find and help fix the problem of the station.

This is a story-driven video game that involves two students trapped and vulnerable in a remote area in Greenwood High School. For unknown reasons, the place has changed, and now it’s haunted by evil creatures. 

They must explore a mysterious campus, solve puzzles, and survive in an environment with a typhoon warning trying to murder them.

Detention involves several East Asian elements that you don’t often see in video games. You’ll be amazed how Chinese mythology is involved in this unique and terrifying story.

Undertale

Distributed by Toby Fox publisher, Undertale is a game quite different from the others. This is an RPG where you control a human that unfortunately falls into a world plagued with monsters. You will have to use a unique battle system to get out of trouble and pray to stay alive.

In this world, you can either make friends or deal with them as a monster. It’s filled with strange humor that will make you think twice about what you want to do to survive.

During your travels, you’ll meet strange creatures (maybe one will be your only friend) that will give clues about how to get out of this world.
