The Curse of Monkey Island
- Release Date: October 31, 1997
- Developer: LucasArts
- Platforms: PC
- Metascore: 89
We’re starting with an absolute classic as it’s one of the best point-and-click games ever created. It’s the third game in the Monkey Island series, but The Curse of Monkey Island is considered the best among them all. Despite being over 20 years old, the game aged like a fine wine thank’s to its hand-painted graphics.
You’ll be walking in the shoes of a young pirate, Guybrush Threepwood, who once again, armed with a blunt sword and a sharp tongue, will have to face the ghost of the demonic pirate LeChuck. Guybrush must save his true love, Elaine Marley, from an attempt to turn her into a zombie.
Guybrush, hoping to marry Elaine, unwittingly slipped a cursed ring on her finger, turning her into a golden statue. Now he must find a way to restore her to the previous form and prevent LeChuck from carrying out his diabolical plans, solving plenty of puzzles along the way.
The story is pretty hilarious, followed by a roster of exceptionally written characters. Your journey will be full of gags, insult sword fighting, and plenty of unique mechanics only available in this installment. Here, you can sail a ship and take part in some piracy as befits of a great pirate game. Although it’s all presented in a distorting mirror, it’s an excellent satirical representation of living a pirate life and the best of all Monkey Island games.
The Curse of Monkey Island Steam Key is available for purchase on RoyalCDKeys.

- Great animation and voice acting.

Sea of Thieves
- Release Date: March 20, 2018
- Developer: Rare Ltd.
- Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
- Metascore: 67
Without a doubt, Sea of Thieves is the greatest pirate simulator on the market. We’ve been waiting ten years for a proper release from Rare Ltd., but it was well worth the wait. It’s a place for every homegrown buccaneer that tests all the necessary genre skills. Here, you will spend time upgrading your ship, boarding other ships, firing cannons, and doing everything pirate-related. You can even visit deserted islands and search for buried treasure that you will use to upgrade your fleet further.
Of course, you can also fight for domination with other pirate crews in a ship to ship combat. Apart from taking care of your pirate crew and fighting other pirates, you will face skeleton crews, giant sharks, and even the almighty Kraken. It also features story missions, but it’s obvious the game wasn’t meant to be played alone. All of these activities shine when facing pirate crews made of real players.
And it’s one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences right now. The latest update, Crews of Rage, introduces even more mechanics and shows developers are doing their best to create the best pirate utopia. So, if you have a group of drunken sailors who want to become pirates, then Sea of Thieves is the best game to do it.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
- Release Date: May 8, 2018
- Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
- Metascore: 88
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is a classic, isometric RPG that is a love letter to all Diablo and Baldur’s Gate fans. Deadfire took a risky but fortunately successful mix of a pirate RPG mixed with fantasy elements.
The action takes place several years after the events presented in the first Pillars of Eternity. Eothas, the god of light and rebirth, comes back to life and incarnates into a giant statue buried under the Caed Nua stronghold belonging to the main protagonist. This destroys the fortress, but thanks to other deities' intervention, the protagonist manages to escape with his life. To repay his debt and save his soul, the Seer must seek answers to questions that may upset the existing balance between the worlds of gods and mortals.
The story sounds complicated, but it’s the pinnacle of fantasy writing and is utterly captivating once you start doing main quests. The world is filled with exceptionally written characters and quests that will test your morality and affect the rest of your playthrough. However, it’s still a pure pirate game despite incorporating so many mechanics and a multi-layered storyline.
You’re going to command your own ship, fight hostile pirate ships in tactical battles, and hunt down bounties. Despite being a fantasy RPG, it perfectly captures the Mediterranean pirate atmosphere on the Deadfire archipelago. It’s a well-crafted pirate experience and one of the best isometric RPGs overall.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Steam Key is available for purchase on RoyalCDKeys.
Key Features
- An open-world, isometric RPG mixing pirates and a fantasy world.
- Excellent, non-linear storyline with multiple outcomes and different endings.
- Believable characters and plenty of side quests.
- Sail the open seas, take part in naval combat and command your own ship.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw
- Release Date: October 20, 2015
- Developer: Double Damage Games
- Platforms: PC
- Metascore: 75
Have you ever heard of space pirates? Instead of exploring the Mediterranean seas in the 16th century, you will traverse the endless space plundering vessels. And believe me, going to the edge of the universe can be as captivating as traveling through the seven seas.
The game features a single-player campaign in a vast sandbox world. You get complete freedom to explore the galaxy and take on any task. It depends only on you what career path you're going to choose. You can become a mercenary, merchant, smuggler, or soldier or freely combine different professions and sources of income.
At the same time, all your decisions and actions will affect the situation in the galaxy. Becoming a bounty hunter or a fully-fledged space pirate is obviously the most exciting way to play the game, which I recommend. You will be participating in many space battles, and there’s a lot of strategy going on during encounters. You have to choose where to aim, watch for your missile range and use deflectors to defend against the enemy’s missiles.
And that’s only the tip of an iceberg as there’s plenty to explore in this space world. Outposts, distress calls, strange readings to investigate, and other activities are available only in the endless space. There’s a lot of freedom in Rebel Galaxy, so make sure you use it to its fullest potential.
Rebel Galaxy Outlaw Steam Key is available for purchase on RoyalCDKeys.
Key Features
- One of the best games about space pirates.
- Freedom of choice, you can even become an honest merchant or combine professions.
- Single-player experience in a sci-fi open world.
- Tactical space battles.
- Plenty of side activities.
LEGO: Pirates of the Caribbean
- Release Date: May 24, 2011
- Developer: Traveller’s Tales
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS
- Metascore: 73
Games based on the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow suffer a terrible fate. They never hold up to the legendary franchise and are either canceled or receive terrible reviews. Luckily, LEGO: Pirates of the Caribbean represents the series well and is suitable for people of almost all ages – just like the movies. Disney Interactive, the publisher of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, also made sure that the release coincides with the release of the fourth part of the mega-production starring Johnny Depp – On Stranger Tides.
The game includes events, characters, and plots from the first four movies. The creators of LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean made sure to faithfully transfer the film settings into the LEGO realm and include a specific sense of humor and gripping action. More than 70 characters from the movie series appear in the game, including Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, and Elizabeth Swann.
Compared to other games on this list, this one is most accessible and completely family-friendly. The lack of voice-acting and a strong emphasis on mimed jokes is the strongest point of older LEGO games and is definitely not a downside. Witness the most iconic events, including Elisabeth spotting the Black Pearl or the destruction of the Fountain of Youth, and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Add a local co-op multiplayer to that, and you’ll get a perfect game for a Sunday afternoon.
LEGO: Pirates of the Caribbean Steam Key is available for purchase on RoyalCDKeys.
Key Features
- The official Pirates of the Caribbean LEGO game.
- Follow the story of the first four films.
- The iconic absurd humor.
- Suitable for people of all ages.
- Local co-op mode.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
- Release Date: November 19, 2013
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3/4, Xbox 360/One, Nintendo Wii U, Google Stadia
- Metascore: 84
Assassin’s Creed titles are known for intertwining fictional stories with historical events. We had Jerusalem, Italy, and Turkey, so now it's time for the Caribbean. And guess what: it’s a great pirate game, regardless of whether you’re familiar with the series. It’s a third-person open-world title with some action RPG elements.
The action takes place in the historical Golden Age of Piracy. As in previous games in the series, you will witness many authentic events and characters along the way. Players can meet Edward Teach (Blackbeard), Benjamin Hornigold, Calico Jack Rackham, Anna Bonny, Charles Vane, and other historical figures.
Historical accuracy is not the most desired element of gameplay. Still, it certainly adds to the depth of the story and lets you understand the motives behind the actions of the main protagonist – Edward Kenway. He’s a charismatic, likable character who gets involved in the everlasting conflict between Assassins and Templars. However, Kenway and other captains trying to establish a pirate paradise is a much more compelling story.
Gameplay-wise, it has every pirate activity you could dream of. As a captain of Jackdaw and your crew, you will sail the entire Caribbean looking for vessels to raid, treasures to be stolen, islands to discover, and sea shanties to sing. Heck, there’s even whale hunting! As many reviewers said, it’s an excellent game about pirates, not so much about assassins.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Ubisoft Connect Key is available for purchase on RoyalCDKeys.
Key Features
- The best Assassin’s Creed game about pirates.
- Gripping storyline featuring historical figures like Blackbeard.
- Sail across the Caribbean, listen to shanties, find treasures, raid ships, etc.
- Build your own pirate cove.
- Explore popular Caribbean cities: Havana, Kingston, and Nassau.
Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- Release Date: November 22, 2004
- Developer: Firaxis Games
- Platforms: PC, PSP, iPhone/iPad
- Metascore: 88
Sid Meier is mostly recognized for his Civilization series, but most fans had thoroughly enjoyed Sid Meier’s Pirates as it plays just like a clone of his previous games. And for a good reason, since it’s a remake of the original game from the ’80s. Due to intelligent gameplay and stylish art, the remake is far more playable than its predecessor and just as fun.
It’s an open-world strategy adventure where you start as an insignificant captain of a small ship, then work your way to become the most fearsome pirate on the seas. This includes raiding ships, ransacking towns, and even ballroom dancing.
You can even influence the political aspect of the game, intercepting an enemy ship carrying a peace treaty between England and Spain. Since it was never delivered, both nations will start a war, leaving you to go about your plundering with no worries. Overall, it’s an oldie but goodie, just like Sid Meier. We could expect nothing less from the creator of the legendary Civilization series.
Key Features
- An open-world strategy adventure from the creator of the Civilization series.
- A successful remake of the game from the ‘80s.
- You start from scratch, working your way to becoming the most fearsome pirate.
- Tons of activities including altering the entire political landscape of the Caribbean.
