Best Assassin’s Creed Games - From Altair And Ezio To Eivor

Best Assassin’s Creed Games - From Altair And Ezio To Eivor

Assassin’s Creed is one of the most famous franchises in the industry. The franchise developed by the leading digital publisher Ubisoft Games has more than 20 games released. The last one is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. A new game, Assassin’s Creed: Rift, is rumored to be released at the end of 2022.

Assassin’s Creed Game Series Numbers

In 15 years, the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise sold more than 155 million copies, becoming the biggest Ubisoft franchise. This number has surely grown even more in the last few years. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla alone made a revenue that surpassed US$1 billion in February of 2022.

Some estimate that Assassin’s Creed franchise is worth more than US$ 300 million. It is surely the biggest long-running series Ubisoft has on its hands. And all of that explains why so many titles of the Assassin’s Creed series are launched.

Inside Assassin’s Creed Success

As mentioned before, the numbers of the Assassin's Creed entire series are incredible, and many factors are a part of its huge success. Even though some of these features may not be present in some of the games, the AC titles distinguish themselves for many things. Some of them are open-world exploration, naval battles, exciting parkour mechanics, great combat mechanics, cameras, and assassinations.

As for personal preference, I’ve always praised the excellent character development, the decision-based advances of the last titles, and the great narratives. All that combined makes Assassin’s Creed games so loved by a huge fan base and explains why they bring exceptional revenue to Ubisoft.

Become a Part of History!

Assassin’s Creed games put players in the middle of the historical events that shaped society and helped us to get to the modern-day. With Altair, we begin in the Third Crusade. Ezio Auditore da Firenze was born in renaissance Italy. Edward Kenway was a part of the Golden Age of Piracy. His son, Haytham took part in the French and Indian wars and participated in American colonization. After him, Connor Kenway was one of the leaders of the American Revolution.

Centuries passed as the Brotherhood of the Assassins fought for freedom against the mighty Templar Order, which sought an age of order by controlling the whole world.  In the battle over the ages, you will also play as Shay Patric Cormac in the French and Indian Wars, Arno Dorian in the French Revolution, and Jacob Frye in the Second Industrial Revolution.

The AC games continue your journey by taking you to Ancient Egypt as Bayek Of Siwa, the last Medjay, who will build the foundation of the Brotherhood. After that, we go to ancient Greece, the land of democracy and philosophy, as the might spartan Alexios or Kassandra, descendent of King Leonidas himself, who wants to find their way into the Peloponnesian war. The journey is complete with Eivor, the mighty Viking that becomes a part of the Viking's raids over England territory.

Assassin’s Creed Games Ranking

Now it is time to put our hidden blades, prepare our eagle vision, and join the fight for freedom, as we have all the Assassin’s Creed Games Ranked!

12 - Assassin’s Creed III

  • Release Date: October 8, 2012
  • Developer:  Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U
  • Metascore: 80 (PC), 84 (Xbox), 85 (PS3)

Assassin’s Creed was surely a series to be remembered already. However, after the whole Ezio trilogy, some features started becoming a little repetitive, and people felt it was a time for a change. That brought us Assassin’s Creed III.

Assassin’s Creed III took us out of Europe after a long time, making the change of scenarios one of the best things about the title. We went from the dense and populated cities of the earlier games to the American wilderness, as the US was only giving its first steps. This welcoming change allowed Assassin’s Creed 3 to explore other aspects of sneaky playing. One example is the usage of trees and tall weeds for hiding.

Assassin’s Creed 3 is surely a great game, even though some complain that Connor was an immature main character, with the opinion escalating after Black Flag. Also, even though he meets the assassin’s guild right before we are supposed to die, there’s no as much contact with the Brotherhood as some players wanted.

Another great feature of Assassin’s Creed 3 is the contrast between Connor and his Templar father. The game introduces the concept of Assassins representing not only the good and the templars being more than just the bad guys. It also has great parkour and combat mechanic, but some players complain about its mission design. It may not be the game fans remember most but still one of the best Assassin’s Creed games.

You can get Assassin's Creed III - Remastered Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDkeys.

Key Features

  • Considerable graphic improvements compared to Ezio’s three games.
  • American borders and wilderness taking us from the crowded cities for the first time.
  • Fluid combat and parkour.

11 - Assassin’s Creed Unity

  • Release Date: February 1, 2014
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PC, PS4 Xbox One, and Stadia
  • Metascore: 70 (PS4 and PC) 74 (Xone)

When the terms bugs and glitches appear, fans will always remember Assassin’s Creed Unity. Ubisoft decided to launch two different games in the same year, with Unity sharing the Stage with Assasin’s Creed Rogue. The result was that both games were released full of bugs and glitches.

Despite that, fans that stood with Assassin’s Creed Unity saw the majority of problems being solved. With a compelling story and an open world like no other before in the franchise, the game became more than playable.

Developers also enriched it with the multiplayer main story, allowing players to do the missions with up to 4 different players. The lack of female characters became a problem for Ubisoft but considering the features apart from the lack of female representativeness, it was great.

Arno’s discovery journey and his complicated romance with Elise were fun and added some exciting aspects to the story. But the best thing was all the historical setting of the French Revolution. Paris was about to explode in one of the biggest moments of European history, and we can feel that playing Unity. If it weren’t for all the problems the title had, it surely would be remembered as a better game.

You can get Assassin's Creed: Unity Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDkeys.

Key Features

  • Co-op multiplayer gameplay.
  • A stunning recreation of Paris and a revolutionary atmosphere.
  • Huge game full of content and things to do.

10 - Assassin’s Creed Rogue

  • Release Date: November 11, 2014
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows, Switch
  • Metascore: 71 (PS4 and Xbox One), 74 (Windows)

There are two main features in Assassin’s Creed Rogue. The first is the game premise. As Shay Cormac, you are an assassin that goes rogue and joins the templars, which explains the game’s name.

All of that happens because an Assassin order becomes extremely involved in politics, so they are no better than the templar order, the enemies they were trying to destroy. That said, Assassin’s Creed Rogue turns you into a former assassin who goes assassinating your old companions as a templar.  So the fans will follow up a great turn for the protagonist.

The second feature is the huge amount of Black Flag-like characteristics. The reason can be that Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag is awesome, or maybe the devs didn’t have the time or creativity for innovations since Unity was released in the same year as Rogue. Even though they took everything that went well in Black Flag, that made them stay in their comfort zone.

The game ends up being unoriginal as the maximum Ubisoft did is a little upgrade in the naval warfare mechanic. For those who are playing the game, this may look like an Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag DLC. The game also has two main problems. Just like Unity, the number of technical issues was a shame to Ubisoft. It was impressive to see how such a big video game franchise could come to the public so broken.

You can get Assassin's Creed: Rogue Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • An exciting turn of an assassin that becomes a templar.
  • Incredible naval battle system recreated from Black Flag.
  • New weapons and combat systems allow counterattacking.

9 - Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

  • Release Date: October 23, 2015
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Windows, and Stadia
  • Metascore: 74 (Windows), 76 (PS4) 78 (Xone)

Following the list of the best Assassin’s Creed games, here comes Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.  For those who played it, the game bugs and glitches were a problem, even though previous games were even worse in this matter. On the other hand, one of the most praised things in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was the development of victorian London, which players must set free from templars.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has everything it needs to help you dive into the beautiful recreation of London. The cockney accent, pubs, historical buildings, and that sense of lack of hope people started to feel during the industrial revolution and all the inequality it brought.

Here, you will take control of two protagonists, the Frye twins. For the first time, we were allowed to choose the protagonist gender, a welcome addition and response of Ubisoft after the lack of female representatives in Assassin’s Creed Unity. The grappling hook mechanics introduced in Syndicate are a great addition to the formula, as it brings an interesting fluidity and speed to the game.

You can get Assassin's Creed: Syndicate Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • First Assassin’s Creed gender selection.
  • Grappling hook makes all the movement through the city faster and more fluid.
  • A beautiful recreation of Victorian London.

8 - Assassin’s Creed Revelations

  • Release Date: November 15, 2011
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360,
  • Metascore: 80 (Windows, PS3, X360)

The speed, impetuosity, and strength of his best days may be gone, but they give place to experience, a higher sense of things, and lethality – skills that could only come with years and more years dedicated to the Brotherhood. Assassin’s Creed Revelations bring us the last episode of Ezio Auditore da Firenze in his search for the last secrets of Altair, the character of the first AC game. It is time to witness as the master of the hidden blade is about to finally meet his destiny.

The end of Ezio’s saga in Revelations was a problem for the future games of Ubisoft, which lost its main character, and thus had to develop something new. Many players considered Ezio’s life not only a great story but also one of the most entertaining games in the entire franchise. However, it is also undeniable that Assassin’s Creed Revelations isn’t on the same level as the last two games, even though it is their direct sequel.

The best thing about Revelations is how it wraps both Altair and Ezio to bring a great ending and a very deserved farewell for two beloved characters and two of the best leaders the brotherhood had. Ezio learns some new mechanics and tricks, and the game takes us from the Italian renaissance – so far, the most used assassin’s creed game set. Now, it shows us there is a bigger world to explore where everything seems real: from the combat system to the meetings with Leonardo Da Vinci.

The tower defence minigame wasn’t that good as well. The fact that we face a lack of great things prevents Revelations, the last game of the original Assassin’s Creed era, from being at the same level as the previous entries. One last thing to point out is that the game presents the assassin’s guild at its peak. We will never see them as strong as they were under Ezio’s lead.

You can get Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • Great soundtrack.
  • Vibrant reproduction of Constantinople.
  • Crafting bomb system, allowing Ezio to mix and create bombs with different effects.

7 - Assassins Creed I

  • Release Date: November 13, 2007
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS3, Xbox 360, Windows
  • Metascore: 81 (PC, PS3, X360)

Now, the list of the best Assassin’s Creed games takes us back to where it all began. The Original game contributed to the development of the biggest franchise of Ubisoft and one of the most famous and played series in video game history. The fact that we put the first game ahead of many other series titles says a lot about it.

Of course, we can’t look at the first Assassin’s Creed the same way we look at other games of the series as Altair’s journey was released in 2007. Still, we were presented with the general parkour mechanic we use until today.

If nowadays the open world is small and feels a little fake, at that time of the release of the original Assassin’s Creed game, it was amazing. The first game also brought incredible graphics. Today, it may seem outdated in nearly every aspect, but that’s only because recent games have resources that Assassin’s Creed didn’t have at the time of its release. Still, this AC created a formula still used by the series and other future brands.

One of the most interesting things about the original AC is that, 15 years ago, the only thing the game insisted on was assassination missions. Even the side quests were directly related to that. So we learned how to play with the mechanic of understanding your target before going for the killing. Targets behave differently, allowing for different ways of approaches, which was really important since the mission variety wasn’t wide.

The following games from the present day, with far more on hand, did much less. This puts the original AC as one of the best games. For the most nostalgic fans, this can even be the favorite Assassin’s Creed, even with all the “flaws” in the gameplay.

You can get Assassin’s Creed Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • The first to introduce the Assassin’s Creed premise.
  • Interesting plot twist.
  • Great freedom and parkour mechanic.

6 - Assassin’s Creed II

  • Release Date:  November 17, 2009
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS3, X360, Windows
  • Metascore: 91 (PS3), 90 (X360), 86 (Windows)

Leaving the first and coming to the second game of the AC Series. Besides all the improvements in comparison to the previous game, Assassin’s Creed 2 brought a change of characters. For the first time, we play with Ezio Auditore, at this time, still a young boy from Florence, seeking revenge.

Assassin’s Creed II's best features are improvements from the first game. Now, there’s a living open world. What’s more, characters truly react to what happens around them instead of acting like ghosts. We have a vibrant city of Florence to explore and are rewarded for doing so. Far from just some extra missions, these changes were necessary to enjoy the freedom to do whatever we want.

Also, Assassin’s Creed II presents players with one of the best villains the franchise has ever seen: Rodrigo “The Spaniard” Borgia. He’s nothing more and nothing less than the holy Pope of the Catholic Church and templar leader on their run for the Apple of Eden. Assassin’s Creed 2 and Ezio himself wouldn’t be what they become without Rodrigo as the antagonist.

In terms of important characters, the game also introduces other historical figures, such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Nicolau Maquiavel. Other improvements relate to combat, movement, and even the addition of swimming.

You can get Assassin’s Creed II Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • Far more dynamic story and objective searches.
  • A more vivid world with lots of options for distractions creation.
  • Lots of historical figures that make us feel that Ezio was a part of real history.

5 - Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood

  • Release Date:  November 16, 2010
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS3, X360, PC, Switch
  • Metascore: 90 (PS3), 89 (X360), 88 (PC)

We finally get to the second chapter of Ezio’s story with Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. After securing a piece of Eden, the assassins must keep fighting to free the world from a templar grip. It’s Ezio who now goes after Cesare Borgia on a journey that will test his limits. Not to spoil too much, I’ll just say that Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood has one of the best antagonists in the gaming industry.

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood keeps players in Rome, which many fans had questioned before the game's release. It turned out to be a good idea, with Brotherhood being the perfect evolution for AC II. In the game, we have the possibility of conquering parts of Rome in what seems like a civil war against the templars. The game also presents different and exciting weapons and tricks taken from the old codex as Da Vinci’s creations.

Moreover, the game offers many ways to interact and develop the assassins guild. You can train and control several assassins and use them to help you with your objective. The results of your hard work result in the order becoming stronger and more wealthy under your command. Having a protagonist and an antagonist like Ezio and Cesare, the main storyline couldn’t be less than incredible, with an exciting ending that explained all the left plot holes.

The last great feature to point out is the multiplayer gameplay, added to Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood for the first time. Players could be in the skin of a templar target. His friends in the lobby will have the mission to hunt them down. It’s been an addictive game mode that brought new aspects to the AC gameplay. This and many other factors made this AC game one of the best.

Key Features

  • First online multiplayer of the series.
  • Incredible storyline and development.
  • A stunning representation of Rome.

4 - Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

  • Release Date: November 10, 2020
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS4, PS5, Windows, XONE, Xbox Series
  • Metascore: 84 (PS5, XBS) 82 (Windows)

Now, it is time to visit nordic lands to talk about the latest Assassin’s Creed adventure. Since its release, Valhalla has been polarizing players, and we understand why. The game finally brings the Viking setting to the series. This way, it gives you a perfect blend of the traditional social stealth and that Viking thing of smashing everything and everybody on your way.

Ubisoft brought updated combat that matches perfectly with the Vikings' idea since it is heavier, impactful, and brute – differently from some of the other games, where things felt more swift. After all, if we are Vikings, we don’t want to be agile, fast, and precise; we want to be brutal.

Both the character and the main storyline also divide hearts here and there. Eivor isn’t close to some other characters the series presented to us before, but still, it's not hard to like him or her. The main story is at least satisfactory and worthy.

The best thing about the game is the incredible and beautiful scenarios on both nordic islands and in England. The game does a great job of enchanting players with world design, helping them dive deep into the game premise.

Key Features

  • Funny story game.
  • Incredible character development.
  • Well-designed Viking setting.

3 - Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag

  • Release Date:  October 29, 2013
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS3, X360, Wii U, Windows, Switch
  • Metascore: 88 (PS3), 86 (X360), 84 (Windows)

Now, it is Pirates of the Caribbean time! Not with Jack Sparrow and Will Turner but with Edward Kenway. Dangerous on land and unbeatable at the seas – Black Flag unites Assassin’s Creed with the pirate and sea themes, which was dangerous and, at the time, had very low expectations. Especially after Assassin’s Creed 3.

Personally, the title is the second greatest surprise of the entire series. The result is so good that we could take all the assassins vs templar thing and the game setting. Still, only the mechanics would make it one of the best pirate games.

One of the greatest features is that, with Edward Kenway, Black Flag doesn’t build a good character only because he is an assassin and fights for freedom. You are a pirate, if not evil, then at least completely chaotic and irresponsible. It’s after some time that you become an assassin. This means you may fight for freedom but you are still a “bad guy.”

And if we play with pirate assassins, two things are more than essential. First, we must be free to pillage, attack, and kill as we please. Second, the sea combat against other ships must be fun and interesting. After all, this is all a pirate’s life is about. Black Flag gives us all of these and more. The ship combat is so good that Ubisoft made it a part of several other AC titles.

Points for Edward, as well. The new character found its way to the fans' hearts. His story and development are far more memorable than his grandson Conor's. To complete, we need to point out the soundtrack. If there is a thing everybody loves about pirates and sailing is the sea shanties. Black Flag does a great job with it as well.

You can get Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Gold Edition Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • Hugest open world (so far).
  • Incredible naval battles.
  • Ship management feature.

2 - Assassin’s Creed Origins

  • Release Date:  October 27, 2017
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PS4, Xone, Windows, Stadia
  • Metascore: 85 (Xone), 84 (PC), 81 (PS4)

Leaving the Caribbean seas, we go to the deserts of Ra, the Egyptian god represented by the sun itself. As the name already suggests, in Assassin’s Creed Origins, we see the beginning of it all, playing as Bayek of Siwa. The story features the beginnings of Hidden Ones, the group from which the Assassin’s guild was created.

Origins is one of the most important titles because it brings one of the most significant changes to the Assassin’s Creed series: the change from a stealth-focused action-adventure to an open-world RPG. The same model was used in Odyssey and Valhalla afterward. It shows how Ubisoft is up to the modern-day since it represents a very welcoming new idea.

All the combat systems had been upgraded far before Origins, but this time, it was a turnover that completely changed how you fight. The expansive open world and the loot system were awesome additions as well. No matter how good a style may be, the time when it gets too repetitive always comes, no matter how hard you work it or bring new features. That's why the new RPG was capable of bringing much more fun to Origins.

Apart from that, the Egypt version presented in Origins is extremely beautiful and grateful to explore. To complete, the protagonists' journey, made by Bayek and Aya, is also great. There are also many historical personalities, such as Cleopatra and Julius Cesar, that made the game even more real.

You can get Assassin's Creed Origins CD Key | Assassins Creed Origins Ubisoft Connect Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • Incredible world, character, and story development.
  • Historical characters and easter eggs.
  • Fluid mechanics of combat.

1 - Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

  • Release Date:  October 5, 2018
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: Windows, PS4, Xone, Switch, and Stadia
  • Metascore: 87 (Xone), 86 (PC), 83 (PS3)

We finally get to the best Assassin’s Creed game, going back to 431-404 BC – Ancient Greece, the time of legends like Leonidas of Sparta, Perikkles from Athens, and great philosophers, such as Socrates.

In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we play as the mercenary Alexios or Kassandra, depending on your chosen genre. In times of the Peloponnesian War, you must discover the secrets of your (and Leonidas’) bloodline and understand its attachment to Atlantis destiny and the fate of an older civilization. You also fight to rebuild your family torn apart by the Cult of Kosmos, which controls the entire greek world.

Besides the exciting story, both protagonists are easy to love. Their motivations are also very credible and easy to buy. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gives you trees of awesome abilities that make the difference in combat and turn a simple soldier into a demigod, making you feel special without being completely overpowered.

Odyssey perfected the Orings formula changes in terms of RPG, character development, and items. Even though it still has a sensation of excessive loot and too easy gold farm, just like in Origins. The game also brings dialogue and action options with several different endings, making everything more fun.

Odyssey also creates a perfect blend of “real-world” and mythological stories, involving some great combats and many legendary creatures. To complete, the Demigod, Deimos, is a brutal and fearless enemy capable of creating a very balanced threat to your protagonist. If you want a great AC to play, Odyssey is your go-to.

You can get Assassin's Creed: Odyssey EU Ubisoft Connect CD Key with RoyalCDKeys.

Key Features

  • Incredible protagonists.
  • War combat mechanic and Conquest of different regions of Greece.
  • Vibrant, vivid, and full of features open world.
